The questionable relationship between Alexis Sanchez and Aaron Ramsey on the pitch is easily understood when analyzing what they do for Arsenal.

There has always been a bit of a hiccup in the communication lines between Alexis Sanchez and Aaron Ramsey. My theory in the past has been that Alexis is doing exactly what Ramsey was supposed to be doing here at Arsenal.

Back in 2013/14, Ramsey was the guy. He was the superstar, but he was weened off of that role thanks to injuries and the retooling of Santi Cazorla.

Then Alexis Sanchez came and took that role away from the Welshman.

Now, however, they look to be on equal footing, as Ramsey is a bonafide starter and Alexis has lessened his own status by pushing so hard for a move away. As such, when the two are on the pitch together, the scenes are pretty predictable.

Whichever has the ball, the other is holding up their arms, calling for it. And in the end, if the other should fail in their endeavors, they are their to shoot dirty glares at the other.

It can look a bit disjointing to fans, seeing two highly capable stars behaving as such to one another, but I see it as a bit of a sibling rivalry kind of thing and nothing more. These two are so similar in their styles and in what they bring to the team that sharing the spotlight with someone else just like them has to keep them motivated to be the better of the two.

Both want to be the center of attention. Both want to get the goals and be the hero and both have the confidence to know that they are absolutely capable of being everything they expect themselves to be.

The fact that Ramsey is on the up again and Alexis Sanchez is on the decline only adds to that fuel. For as strong as Ramsey is, in the past couple of years, there was no touching Alexis. He was the best in England, let alone on Arsenal.

But with the playing fields leveled, the siblings are at each other’s throats again, intent on pushing the other out of the spotlight.

In the end, this may do little to effect Alexis and his prospects, but Ramsey should come out looking the better, as he is now being pegged to take over captain duties in the future.

It’s fun to watch. Annoying at times, that’s a given, since they are always sulking or throwing their hands up in the air when it doesn’t go there way, but otherwise, it’s fun.
