Arsenal has been linked to yet another player: Christian Pulisic. Could the Borussia Dortmund starlet and the Gunners be a match made in heaven?

Other than the additions of Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac, Arsenal had a rather quiet summer transfer window in comparison to the free-spending Manchester clubs and many other Premier League rivals. However, the one positive is that the Gunners did manage to keep Alexis Sanchez, despite a relentless pursuit by Pep Guardiola.

While Sanchez staying due to his own premonitions, as Arsene Wenger has clearly stated, that he won’t be sold unless a proper replacement could be brought in. However, all that just delayed the inevitable, with the Chilean’s contract running down and him refusing to sign an extension or rather asking for exorbitant amounts of money that even Lionel Messi doesn’t make.

But next summer, there is a good chance that Guardiola will make an approach for Sanchez and get him for free. And when that happens, Arsenal need a replacement and it needs to be someone good.

While Thomas Lemal will be the first choice for most people, the Monaco star has already refused one move to Arsenal but could be persuaded to make the switch come January.

However, another replacement could be Borussia Dortmund’s young star Christian Pulisic, who has just started to announce himself in the Bundesliga. The American international that has already turned down a move to Liverpool, moved to Dortmund in his early teens and has never looked back.

While there was a time that Pulisic looked like he might move on from the Bundesliga side, things changed under Thomas Tuchel.

The 19-year-old made his debut for Dortmund and things only went up from there, with incredible performances playing alongside the likes of Marco Reus, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Mario Gotze. He’s since already racked up 60 odd appearances for the club and is getting better day by day.

But while the American starlet hasn’t put up numbers anywhere close to what Sanchez has, his future is extremely bright with sky-high potential. Add to the fact that a United States player has never really clicked in the Premier League, other than Clint Dempsey, bringing in Pulisic could be a match made in heaven.

For if nothing else, the American is a trendsetter and maybe he can actually become the one American player to prosper in the Premier League. And maybe he can do it in North London, instead of playing second fiddle to Marco Asensio at Real Madrid, as is the presumed trajectory for every talented youngster in European football.

But that’s a whole lot of maybes, because maybe just maybe he could decide to stay at Dortmund forever.
