Arsenal: Lucas Moura a shot in the dark worth taking
Former Chelsea defender Alex has stated that Lucas Moura would be a good fit for Arsenal. The Paris Saint-Germain attacker, while inconsistent, is a shot in the dark worth taking.
The time is coming where Arsenal will no longer be able to rely on the attacking prowess of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. While they may still be with the side for the near future, with their respective contracts expiring next summer and reports surfacing that all is not right in the dressing room, it would be surprising to see either of them sign a new deal and stay in North London beyond the end of the year, nevermind both.

With that being the case, Arsene Wenger must begin planning to find successors to the pair that his team has been built upon in recent years. But such is the quality of both Ozil and Sanchez, the replacements cannot simply be any player available; they must have an element of ability and productivity to replicate the threat that Ozil and Sanchez have offered.

And one name that has been mentioned as a possible solution to Arsenal’s upcoming problems is Lucas Moura. The Paris Saint-Germain winger has seen his opportunities restricted significantly with Neymar and Kylian Mbappe completing sensational summer moves, and is, reportedly, yearning for an exit. And his former international and domestic teammate, Alex, believes that, while the Premier League may not, at first glance, suit Lucas’ abilities, Wenger and the Gunners would be a good fit for the pacy Brazilian:
"“If I was in his place, I would have already left to make an impact elsewhere. Spanish football could suit him – he could take advantage of the space with his speed and technique. Even if England does not seem favourable, I would like to see him at Arsenal. They play cleaner football, more technical. He had contacts, I believe. That would be a good option for him this winter.”"
Lucas is not a player of the same calibre of an Ozil or Sanchez. He has not proven, on a consistent basis, that he can produce at the high level that they have. However, he undoubtedly has talent, as shown in glimpses of quality, that, if untapped, could bloom into a blistering winger.
His searing pace combined with his dribbling ability, his willingness to be direct, and his ability to skip past defenders with great ease and speed make him an extremely difficult player to defend against, especially when he has space to drive into.
And he would not cost the arm and a leg that the modern transfer window seems to demand for any remotely talented player. PSG could well be happy to sell, Lucas would most certainly be happy to move, and Arsenal would be wise to take a shot in the dark with his talent.

Inconsistent, yes. A little frustrating, yes. But also extremely talented. And his talent alone deserves a punt.
