Aaron Ramsey missed out on Arsenal training the day before the Watford match, which makes it rather concerning that he may get Santi Cazorla’d again.

According to numerous sources out there, including the pictures from Arsenal’s last training session before the Watford match, Aaron Ramsey missed out. While all the injured stars that are questionable for the match were out there, the Welshman went missing.

Most likely, there is nothing to this. He was a later arrival from international duties, so maybe he’s just having a breather, but with Ramsey you never can be too sure that an injury won’t sneak up on him.

Which makes me a bit worried.

After his Super Rambo season of 2013/14, he ran into injury troubles early on in the 2014/15 season and, in his absence, Santi Cazorla was forced into that holding midfield role and the thrived, properly robbing Ramsey of the position.

It all seemed a bit unfair, given how prolific Ramsey had been, but he was forced out wide, where he struggled, since that isn’t his natural position.

This year – and also the tail-end of last year – showed a resurgence of Super Rambo in his new role inside of the 3-4-3. He has proven to be a massive influence on the attack and an ever-present force no matter where play is proceeding.

Which makes me worried that a similar injustice might be lurking in the shadows.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

If Ramsey can’t play against Watford (which again, we have no cause to really be worried yet), I do believe it would be Jack Wilshere who takes his place and, let’s be honest, Wilshere is going to be fantastic.

Maybe even so fantastic that he replaces Ramsey.

The Welshman has always been a favorite of Wenger and as such, has been given countless opportunities, but if anyone is going to force him out of that role, it would be the ultimate Wenger-favorite, Jack Wilshere.

As someone who has always believed that Ramsey is world class, I would hate to see him ousted, even for Wilshere, who I’m dying to see back in the starting picture.

The good news is that, assuming this all does come to pass, which again, is no guarantee, then all Ramsey would have to do is bide his time until Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez inevitably leave. And maybe even sooner than that, as Wenger may force an ineffective Ozil out for a more influential Ramsey.

Who knows. For now, let’s just see what happens with that starting XI.
