Arsenal: Stan Kroenke actually dug in for the ‘L’ word
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal majority owner Stan Kroenke has rarely been affectionate to the club, but he actually dug in and pulled out the ‘L’ word in his latest spiel.
Arsenal supporters argue about a ton of things. From Arsene Wenger to Mesut Ozil and everything in between. It is a divided fan base, split into WOB’s (Wenger out) and AKB’s (Wenger in). But there is one thing that we will always agree on and that is a mutual distaste for owner Stan Kroenke.

The American business man has always been on the shit list, ever since his takeover. Often accused of being far more intent on making money from the club than actually winning anything, Kroenke is known as silent Stan for one big reason – he never says anything.
And, by extension, he never does anything. He just sits back and gets hated. He’s an easy target, that’s no doubt. Like most of the board, supporters wonder if he’s even a fan of the sport itself, or if life really is just all about the money.
Kroenke has even gone so far as to say (or infer) that he didn’t buy the club to win titles. Which is obviously never going to go over too well.
A new Stan Kroenke showed up in response to a letter from the Arsenal Supporters Trust, urging various measures from Kroenke, including not seeing his son Josh re-appointed to the board.

Stan Kroenke responded like he never had before. And by that, I mean he actually said a lot. Not just blabbing, but actually saying things and, we can only hope, meaning them. But that is something we may never know. Here’s what he said, via Sky Sports:
"“I love Arsenal, love being involved with Arsenal. There no finer feeling than going out and winning like we did with the FA Cup. That whole afternoon and evening, we talked about what happened on the pitch. Wonderful. The feeling is contagious and it makes you want to keep doing it. There’s so many easier ways to make money, I can assure you. Much, much easier.”"
If I knew nothing about Kroenke and was coming into this blind, this is the kind of statement that would just warm my heart to the core. It sounds like an owner that cares. I mean, wow, the dude used the ‘L’ word. Twice! You don’t use the ‘L’ word, let alone twice, unless you are serious about who you are saying it too.

The problem is that I am not coming into this blind. Where has this Kroenke been over the years? Why has he suddenly descended from his tower to issue words that he should have said years ago? Maybe it’s because of the added pressure, who knows. Needless to say, I’m dubious at best.
