Sitting in a tie for fourth place with Chelsea, Arsenal are apparently “losing sight of the top four” which is not just ridiculous, but impossible.

Arsenal are coming up against their toughest opponent of the young season, in a match that can’t have higher stakes. Facing Manchester City at the Etihad hasn’t been that nasty of a match-up in recent years, but this year is a bit different.

City have looked damn near unstoppable, mainly in the attack, which is so fast it’s scary. It’s going to push Per Mertesacker to his limits but I, for one, choose to remain optimistic.

Some, however, don’t share my enthusiasm. Some are already docking the Gunners points before the match even kicks off.

I don’t get it. Sometimes I just don’t understand how people can jabber off some ridiculous claims and come out the other end just fine. Normally it’s Garth Crooks, but I actually agreed with him the other day, so I know it’s near the end of days. This time, it was said by former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan.

Here’s what he had to say, via Sky Sports:

"Arsenal are losing sight of the top four, which they used to be part of.  I am a great admirer of Arsene Wenger but everyone has their time and the DNA of this club needs to change slightly. They changed with Wenger from an Arsenal team that people ridiculed for being boring to a beautiful team that played, and sometimes overplayed, and now there has to be a change again.More from Pain in the Arsenal3 observations from Arsenal’s victory at Goodison Park3 standout players from 1-0 victory over Everton3 positives & negatives from Goodison Park victoryArsenal vs PSV preview: Prediction, team news & lineups3 talking points from Arsenal’s victory at Goodison Park"

How are we losing site of the top four? Have you noticed that he didn’t justify that at all? We sit level on points with Chelsea. A Chelsea team, mind you, that we went into Stamford Bridge and outplayed, despite only managing a 0-0 draw.

We sit behind Tottenham, who can’t win without Harry Kane; they can’t even score without him. And they sit behind Manchester United, who lost to Huddersfield.

Who doesn’t have a weakness here? Which of those three teams can you definitively say is better than Arsenal and guaranteed a top four slot? I would love to hear anyone on this, as I’m sure Simon Jordan won’t be chiming in.

It’s a blanket statement. A click-bait quote that can be used to garner attention without the risk of having to actually answer for his absurd claim.

I don’t care what you think about changing, saying Arsenal are losing sight of the top four when they sit level with fourth place is absurd in every sense of the word.
