7. Jack Wilshere

The Arsenal squad, up until this point, has been fairly segregated. Wenger has had a Premier League side and a cup side, with the latter playing in the Europa League and Carabao Cup. Jack Wilshere is the highest-ranked player of the cup half of the squad. And given his performances this season, that is certainly deserved.

Expectations for Wilshere were low entering the season. He spent the last year on loan, he returned to the club with a broken leg, and there were major doubts over whether he would be an Arsenal player for much longer. Well, for now, he is. And for now, he is playing very well.

Wilshere has been the most creative player in the cup team. Playing as an inside-left forward, he has been given the positional freedom and flexibility to drift throughout the pitch. Such a role highlights his spatial awareness, his reading of the game, and his ingenuity of thought on the ball. There is still a long way to go for Wilshere. He has not had many minutes in the league, for example. But three months into the season: so far, so good.
