Arsenal saw a masterclass from Mesut Ozil against Tottenham and right on time, that ensures that he is leaving on the next plain to Spain.

Arsenal’s win over Tottenham Hotspur was a complete team effort. On the Pain in the Arsenal podcast, we were all in consensus that there was not a poor performer on the day. Everyone did their part, most of them went above and beyond their part.

It was a team effort, as Rio Ferdinand noted when doubting the same team’s chances against Burnley. But that said, Mesut Ozil was the commander of the cavalry, and everyone else was saddled up alongside him, charging into the opposing lines and firing away just like their leader.

In fact, Ozil was so good that, overnight, the silence surrounding his future was ended. Up to this point, there has been hardly a hint of an interested team in the German maestro. Yet now, the creme de la creme, Barcelona, is ready to sign him up.

In case your definition of “click bait” was getting a bit rusty, I’ll go ahead and use it in a sentence: Any article that ties Ozil to Barcelona the day after a good performance is clickbait.

I like to give Shkodran Mustafi all the credit for my new stance on “s***.” It was Mustafi who looked a journalist in the eye and and asked him a very important question: “How would you know?” He said that all journalists care about is “the biggest s***.”

I couldn’t put it any better. And I’ll put it in perspective for this Ozil crap-fest. The German maestro had one great performance and literally the next day, all of a sudden, journalists are saying that he is going to make a “sensational” move to Barcelona.

I like to picture it like this: Remember in the Cold War how world leaders were sitting with their finger on the nuke button? I like to think of Barcelona sitting with their finger on the “Ozil” button and they were just waiting for him to make one good performance and they pushed the button.

But that isn’t how life really is. That isn’t how things work. Mustafi backs me on this. It’s pathetic really, and it’s a circus of sewage. Do yourself a favor and ignore it.

Where Ozil goes is anyone’s guess. And he may damn well end up at Barcelona. But it will not be because of this one performance. Bank on that.
