Arsenal move forward with their quest to overtake a 12 point gap, and they do it against Huddersfield, but is there re`ally anything else here except Jack Wilshere?

Arsenal’s match-up against Huddersfield is much more than just a formality. It would be a crying shame to go into this match blindingly optimistic, because, not only is this Arsenal, but Huddersfield are a scrappy bunch.

That said, even if it isn’t “just a formality,” there is a certain confidence, if not even expectations, that the Gunners will handily put this match away. They are undefeated at home and are coming off two massive wins against Tottenham and Burnley.

Everyone is healthy, or rather, all the important players are healthy, and that includes Shkodran Mustafi, who is virtually unbeatable at the back.

Still though, it’s foolish to consider it prematurely won. However, that being said, assuming everything does go according to plan, then there is really only one thing to look for – Jack Wilshere.

The stars have aligned, the heavens have opened up, and the message is clear – Wilshere will start. No questions about it. Alex Iwobi has a dead leg and he wasn’t very impressive and Mesut Ozil has an illness that may or may not be called “I-just-want-Wilshere-to-start-itus.”

More from Pain in the Arsenal

All eyes will be on Wilshere in what we hope will be his first Premier League start. He has proven himself up to whatever challenge comes his way – that’s been the theme of his career – and has also proven that given the right company, he can fit right in and make a good deal of difference.

Huddersfield is set up perfectly for the Englishman. They will be at the mercy of Arsenal at the Emirates, where they have yet to lose, and given a healthy, if not full, complement of fellow stars by his side, Wilshere will have plenty of options at his disposal.

Not just that, but we have no reason to think that he would be on a time constraint. He has been playing the full 90 in midweek competitions for a couple months now, so clearly fitness is not an issue anymore.

With the persistent rumors that Wilshere could be leaving in January (however unlikely) it would be ideal to see Wilshere put in a class performance and assert himself back into the first team picture where he belongs.
