Arsenal will have nothing but fun to play for against BATE Borisov, but it will still be entertaining. Here’s all you need to know and how to watch.

Arsenal’s hectic holiday period actually gets a bit of a break this week, should Arsene Wenger take it, as he has nothing to play for against BATE Borisov. And, as we saw Manchester City do against Shakhtar Donetsk, that could mean a complete unleashing of the kids.

This is the best idea for the match. Even utilizing frustrated first-teamers like Olivier Giroud and Jack Wilshere seems like a foolish idea, because in the end, it’s worthless and you’re going to need them for the festive period when rotation will be a necessity to avoid injury and to avoid Manchester Untied happening all over again.

That all starts here. It’s the last breather that the Gunners will get for awhile and it’s pretty crucial that they take it and not send out any big dogs just for the sake of continuity or however you want to spin it.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

All that said, BATE Borisov do have something to play for. If they can manage a win over a highly-questionable Arsenal set-up, then, depending on the result of Red Star Belgrade and FC Koln, they may be able to sneak into second place. But they would need the other two to draw, so the specifications are rather, well, specific.

In terms of team news, there isn’t much to say on the Arsenal side. A fountain of youth would be expected to flow at the Emirates, but if, against all reason, Wenger does opt for some senior players, he has the lot at his disposal, as no player that was ever going to be involved in this match is out injured.

On the Borisov side of things, they too have very little to think about, as no changes are expected amidst a wealth of good health.

Which leaves us with very little else to say on the match, other than that we can only hope that Wenger saying that Wilshere will start is another ruse, because it’s completely unnecessary. Though it is always fun to see how the Englishman plays.
