Arsenal will call on Newcastle United in an attempt to snap out of their winless funk, and let the revolving door keep turning as the inadequate are pushed away.

Arsenal made a serious rotation against West Ham, calling forth four personnel changes as well as the change in formation and all for a 0-0 draw. Although, again, taken in context, that draw is not as debilitating as it initially seems.

Still, suffice to say we didn’t get the job done. Plenty of players were given a chance to prove themselves and plenty of players fell short, in the end, to ace their audition.

In response, the rotating revolving door needs to keep spinning and those that get knocked out of the rotation need to step aside, allow another to take his place, and get on with life, popping up to catch the next go-around.

It is a literal crapshoot as far as how Arsene Wenger will line his men up. Anything could happen and you can’t even be surprised, because such is the nature of Arsenal football club. But as that rotation keeps churning, there are some who will inevitably be left behind.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Ainsley Maitland-Niles, for as solid as he was, needs to get bumped off so Sead Kolasinac can take his place back. The Bosnian is a behemoth and accounts for so much that it would have taken something unreachable to kick him out of the revolving door.

Alex Iwobi is much of the same. While he impressed me at times, he didn’t keep up with the revolving door behind him and it should have smacked him on the back and knocked him out of rotation. Time to give someone else a chance or move Iwobi to an attacking position where he is more-suited to play.

It sucks (for me at least) but Olivier Giroud is going to get smacked out of the door as well, as he wasn’t able to pull his team into three points. I do think he had a better chance than most of making a case for himself, but it was not to be.

This is part of the natural natural selection that needs to be embraced. There is nothing wrong with giving guys a shot, we all wanted it to happen, but you have to keep going from there. The strong will survive. And if, at the end of the year, the same types of people keep getting eaten, then let them be. Find someone more suitable.
