Arsenal: Too soon for Alexandre Lacazette retaliation?
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal decided to rest Alexandre Lacazette in the disappointing draw against West Ham, but in the situation they are now in, is it time for his grand retaliation?
Arsenal disappointed more than a few by leaving Alexandre Lacazette on the bench against West Ham. There was talk that he was injured. There was talk that he just needed a break. There was talk that it was Olivier Giroud‘s turn.
Whatever the case, Lacazette had to be disappointed not to start. Especially seeing his side blanked, with a whopping 13% of their shots bothering to test Adrian.
It’s enough to get fans riled up and frustrated, wanting an answer. My question is, given his lack of involvement, is it enough to get Lacazette riled up and ready to deliver an answer of his own making?
I think we should be quite happy with the current standing of Lacazette, given the circumstance he has been put into. He has only been able to go the full 90 minutes one time and it clearly irks him. I refuse to believe that body language means nothing after noticing the different it makes with Mesut Ozil.
But at some point, that frustration has to be taken out on something. My question is, why can’t that something be the other team?

Lacazette has not shown much emotion thus far into his Arsenal career. It’s early, and that’s not really his thing, as he is shyer than most. But passion runs through every footballers veins, and, not wanting to sound hyper critical, but seeing Lacazette more passionate than ever against Newcastle would do so much for a weary fan base.

My wonder is if he is comfortable doing this yet. It’s clear he hasn’t settled, and he’s probably content trying to gel into the attack a bit more and relying on service, which may or may not be provided.
But we have seen Lacazette create plenty on his own, which is why I bring this up. He is a fantastic player, one that Arsene Wenger was incredibly astute to break the bank on. It’s just that in moments of desperation, these are the guys that you want to see with a vendetta.
I think back to Olivier Giroud in his second leg against Monaco a few years back. Granted, it was his own buffoonery that triggered the vendetta, but still, the result was obvious. Giroud was a bull perpetually seeing red. He was on a new level of determined.

Again, I’m not slighting Lacazette at all. I just really want to see him elevate himself to another level for the good of the club. Mainly because no one else seems capable of that, he does, and he cost a lot of money. Which I think is a good reason to want it.
