Arsenal have too many transfer sagas, but for Jack Wilshere, there isn’t much drama at all. It’s really all in his hands. So if he wants to stay, that’s easy.

There was awhile there where Jack Wilshere’s transfer saga was picking up as much momentum as Mesut Ozil’s and Alexis Sanchez’s. Arsenal have long harbored faith in the Englishman, but injuries have derailed all attempts at making him the world beater he can still become.

Now, with his contract nearing it’s end this coming summer, the drama ensues. Earlier in the season, it didn’t look promising. He was relegated to Carabao Cup and Europa League performances, neither of which was good enough for him. Nor should it have been.

Poor form from first-teamers didn’t open up the door for Wilshere to get back to the Premier League and he made it clear that his ultimate goal was precisely that – the top flight.

It hasn’t been up to him, though. Arsene Wenger is clearly not as gung-ho to always throw Wilshere back in it whenever he wants, so the lack of game time was leading to worrying developments that Wilshere could leave.

Now, things have changed. Constantly drowning in questions regarding his long-term plans, Wilshere has yet again made it perfectly clear what he wants (as quoted by Sky Sports):

More from Pain in the Arsenal

"I definitely want to be here. I’m enjoying my football and I love playing in the Premier League now and I want to help Arsenal get to where they should be. We just have to sort things out and I’m sure that will happen in the next couple of weeks and it will be sorted."

He would go on to point out that the key is regular game time in the Prem. Which is simple enough, because as of now, it is totally up to Wilshere. With Aaron Ramsey out injured, Wilshere has free reign. Even when Ramsey returns, it’s likely that Wilshere will push out Alex Iwobi.

So he stays. Just as long as he can maintain his good form and stay influential in the Premier League. Now that he is here, Wenger has every excuse in the world not to drop him and, before long, that should turn into a new deal and another investment in the hope that is the bulldoggish Englishman.

Wenger won’t sit Wilshere for no reason like he’s done Sead Kolasinac. It would take a colossal kerfuffle to fall out of his position now. Which is a good thing. Wilshere is in charge of reaching his own happiness.
