Arsenal have reportedly shown interest in Sevilla’s Steven N’Zonzi, but is the transfer really going to happen, or will it just be another rumor?

Arsenal look as though they’re looking to bring in reinforcements. The January transfer window is generally a drab time for most Gooners. We’ve been linked with an abundance of players including Steven N’Zonzi. We’re used to rumors though, we want to see an actual transfer be completed in the January window. Is this finally the moment where the tides will turn?

Gatwick Airport

N’Zonzi is one of the many players Arsenal has been rumored with recently. He sent the transfer rumor mill into meltdown when he was recently seen in London.

Sources such as the Metro reportedly spotted the want-away Sevilla man in the Gatwick airport. After this, Arsenal fans did what they do best and got over-excited. The rumor slowly started to dissipate after the Daily Mail stated that N’Zonzi was in London to see his son. Neither Arsene Wenger nor N’Zonzi have addressed the rumors.

Other Clubs Interested

Since N’Zonzi has such a low price tag there are a handful of clubs who are interested. With a £35 million release clause, other clubs in England have shown interest as well as Arsenal.

Many sources, such as HITC, have confirmed Everton’s Sam Allardyce is very interested. Despite his interest, Big Sam admitted that his side should strengthen other positions.

West Ham is also said to be extremely interested in the French tank, with David Moyes wanting to secure a class signing for the Hammers. Without a doubt Arsenal is a more attractive team than Everton or West Ham.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Despite our attractiveness on the world stage, N’Zonzi may want something different than fame. He may want playtime. West Ham and Everton could most likely grantee he’d start most games. With the amount of midfielders Arsenal already posses the Fenchman would have to hit the ground running in order to play.

Eduardo Berizzo and N’Zonzi

N’Zonzi and Berizzo had a very bad relationship and the Frenchman was no longer being played under him as manager. Berizzo has been sacked by Sevilla and it’s said that he was the main reason for N’Zonzi’s desire to leave. Before he was sacked it looked as though he already had one foot out the door.

Now that Berizzo is gone no one knows. If the next manager fancies N’Zonzi than he may not leave the club at all.
