After playing in his fifth game in a row, this time against fierce rival Chelsea, Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere is finally getting back to his best.

Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere has had to call the treatment room home for the past few seasons. He’s finally starting to show glimpses of England’s (and Arsenal’s) savior. As he was touted for back when he was an unpolished 17 year old.

Wilshere looks like the player we’ve been asking for, and he showed that more than ever against Chelsea. He’s not Santi Cazorla with the fancy tricks or the passing skills of Mesut Ozil, he’s got a bit of both. He plays with a sort of panache that we haven’t seen at this club since Cesc Fabregas.

Wilshere may not stay in the Arsenal starting XI as Aaron Ramsey will soon be fit. This could also cause Arsene Wenger some selection headaches.

Personally, I would choose Wilshere, only because of his passing range. Ramsey gets caught too far up the pitch too often and he doesn’t have a natural position. Wilshere has played out of his shorts these past few games, making man of the match selections quite easy for us writers. He plays the simple pass and always has the best touch for going forward.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

He may not be strongest in midfield or the quickest but he gets stuck in on tackles and he’s fearless. He has found himself a steady niche in a midfield that is still searching for an identity.

In short, he is a complete midfielder. He just needs to keep building on that potential. He was touted to be England’s savior when he was only 17, but unfortunately sustained quite a lot of injuries since then. He was electric when he played for the England side. He showed glimpses of why he was called up to play for the Arsenal senior side.

Unfortunately, his contract does expire in six short months. Why we let his contract run down is beyond me. He is playing for his contract and he deserves an extension. He has outplayed all our expectations, and performed really well. We as a club would definitely be worse off without him in our ranks.

Only Arsene Wenger has that power to grant Wilshere a new contract. We all want to see Wenger make the right decision, but how the biggest question is if he will stay fit? Do we give him a new contract? These questions can only be answered in time.
