With the signing of Kostas Mavropanos expected to be complete in the next few days, Arsenal fans are showing how disappointed they are with the signing

According to the Greece Gazetta’s  journalist, Thodoris Vasilis, “Konstantinos Mavropanos is Greece’s next big defender.” (As stated in an interview with Arsenal‘s Goal.com correspondent Chris Wheatley).

Mavropanos has joined the club from PAS Giannina for a fee of £1.8m. With this signing comes a Twitter meltdown, as usual.

Moreover, Arsenal fans have been constantly putting forth their utter bemusement with the signing. With names like Virgil van Dijk going to Liverpool, it can be very frustrating for fans to see an unknown player like the Greek defender coming in.

Now, with that being said, fans must stop writing off a player because they’re not popular. It is part of the Gunner’s culture to bring in young, inexperienced players. In fact even our most successful manager was deemed as “a nobody” before joining. Just because Mavropanos plays in the Greek league doesn’t mean he has no talent.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

It’s easy to want proven players like Nabil Fekir or Julian Draxler to come into the club, but it takes a true football fan to be patient with a new youngster. For all we know, Mavropanos could be the next Sol Campbell.

Unfortunately patience is a virtue that most Arsenal fans are running out of. With Arsene Wenger‘s tactics becoming stale and a lack of new impactful signings coming in, fans are losing their patience. Young signings are great for the future but fans want something that would help us out of our predicament right now. Whilst that frustration is understandable, fans should still try to accept all young signings that come in.

Confidence is key for any young player getting their start. When fans are constantly saying “who the hell is this guy?” Confidence is the last thing that you feel. Arsenal fans have extremely high standards, and rightfully so, but young players are part of our culture.
