Arsenal: Are fans becoming numb to poor results?
By Rory Picton
We just got beat by Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup, are Arsenal fans finally fed up with the state of the club?
Arsenal as a club are terribly consistent at finishing fourth each year (last year being an exception) and letting the fans down in that regard. We as fans expect a certain level of commitment from the players and coaching staff.
When results don’t go our way, we look for excuses like the referees or the shadows from the sun. Our players need to commit themselves and fast.
Watching Arsenal play Nottingham Forest was just down-right poor. Arsene Wenger sent out a line-up with just six well-experienced players and they didn’t help our cause. Maybe if the Gunners tried to win the game they would’ve done better but we played boring.

Mohamed Elneny was by far the most boring, never wanting to play a risky pass or a ball over the top when one was needed. Why he’s still on our books, I couldn’t tell you.
A player like Theo Walcott needs to start displaying the performances that were expected of him as a youngster. The older players in this side really didn’t help the youngsters out.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles did as much as he could to help out the strikers and the center-backs. Alex Iwobi...what a game. Jay-Jay Okocha would be disappointed that he couldn’t have done better with all the chances he’s gotten. Iwobi has been very poor this season and rightfully should get booted out of the first team. Giving the ball away and taking shots when he could’ve lifted his head and played a smarter pass.
Are the Arsenal players committed?
Arsenal played like a side who just didn’t want to be there and were thoroughly beaten by Forest. The players didn’t seem to care as they went through the motions, collecting their paychecks in the process.

We as fans would like to see a certain level of ability out of our players. They have, after all, won so many trophies over the years. Arsenal are a “top six” side and they need to start showing it against even the smallest of teams. Against a side like Nottingham Forest, who sit 14th in the championship, it goes without saying that we really should’ve done better.
I want to see us purchase a player who will fight for the badge. A player who will run the channels and get stuck in. They need to find a player who would die for the club. As of right now we don’t have any. The Arsenal players need to find a spark from somewhere and use that. Arsene Wenger can’t spark this team anymore on the pitch. That’s clear to see.
We as Arsenal fans expect a lot out of our great club and we’re right to do so. Fans should expect trophies and high-profile signings. Will things ever change under manager Arsene Wenger?
I really hope so. Maybe we need a change of owner.

Chelsea midweek will be interesting, seeing and hoping for change. I hope Arsenal can field a proper and strong lineup for that game. The Gunners need the win and the bragging rights. Chelsea have had the one up on us in recent years, but with our FA Cup and Community Shield wins earlier this year maybe the tide is turning.
