Signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for £56 million – A

If there was one incoming or outgoing of this January window that Arsenal fans were most surprised about, it was certainly this one. I even wrote this piece when the rumours first started surfacing about how I did not want to let myself believe that it could ever actually happen so I never had the let down of when it inevitably didn’t. Well, I was wrong.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is now an Arsenal player, signed for a club-record £56 million fee on transfer deadline day amid a merry-go-round of strikers (again, I will get onto this). If you are not convinced by this guy’s calibre, then here are his Bundesliga scoring stats for the last two-and-a-half years, once he took over the leading striker for Borussia Dortmund.

2015/16: 25 goals in 31 games; 2016/17: 31 goals in 32 games; 2017/18: 13 goals in 16 games. Aubameyang is a natural-born goalscorer. He just has that knack. And now he’s playing in front of the most creative player in the world. Speaking of…
