With the signing of Pierre Emerick Aubameyeng, many Arsenal fans fear Alexandre Lacazette will be dropped, can the two superstar strikers play in unison?

Many Arsenal fans have been wondering what the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyeng means for Alexandre Lacazette. With Lacazette’s recent poor form especially, an abundance of supporters fear that the Frenchman from Lyon could be dropped to the bench.

Can Lacazette and Aubameyeng Coincide?

Lets get straight to the point. Yes, of course they can. Its absolutely unheard of for Arsenal to spend over £50 million on one player, and now we have two of them. They will both play, it’s virtually guaranteed.

Aubameyeng has a superb amount of experience playing on the wing, in fact he even played there when he first arrived at Dortmund. Lacazette will most likely be kept in the middle as the main striker and then Aubameyeng on the left, Henrikh Mkhitaryan on the right and Mesut Ozil in behind. That’s a beyond formidable front four.

Is a 4-4-2 Possible?

It seems relatively obvious for fans that Arsene Wenger should play with two strikers. Some of the Gunner’s most successful years were when we played with two up front.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Whether it was Bergkamp and Henry or when it was Van Persie and Adebayor, it wasn’t a bad formation at all. Aubameyeng and Lacazette partnering up front would be just as lethal. Ozil on the left and Mkhitaryan on the right (or vice versa) as the creative genuises.

However, Arsene Wenger doesn’t think that way, it’s no secret he’s not a huge admirer of the underused formation. So whilst a 4-4-2 would be an effective formation to use, that most likely will not happen. Still, seeing Lacazette and Aubameyeng playing in unison would intimidate every defense in the Premier League.

Who will be the Main Man?

Aubameyeng has the: personality, speed and strength, while Lacazette has the: brain, creativity and composure.

The Gabonese striker will more than likely want to take initiative and try to score the goals himself. It’s what he does, he’s a goal scorer, the numbers speak for themselves.

As we saw with Alexis Sanchez, Lacazette seemed not to mind being the second in line on the top goal scoring sheet. Aubameyeng wants the goals and Lacazette wants the team to be successful in general. Together it makes the perfect storm.

It is undoubtedly the question on the back of every fans mind, can these two superstars work together to bring Arsenal to the heights they should be at? There’s no reason why the dynamic duo shouldn’t be able to.  They will both play, but will they both shine? Only time will tell.
