Arsenal may be struggling, but to say that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is already regretting his decision? That’s pure, unbridled ignorance.

Arsenal certainly have problems. Lengthy, deep problems that go beyond the players in the squad. Honestly, based solely on the players, if they are all in peak form (which seems to happen all at once like, twice a season), they can win the league with who they have.

But the trick is getting like that, which no one can seem to spark.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang came in at a tough time. Despite dispatching Everton in flying colors and getting a taste of the good life, he then suffered extreme lack of service against both Tottenham and Manchester City (both times), teams that we are supposed to be rivaling.

For what it’s worth, do consider that the Gunners were “in” all three games, namely early on, but gradually fell out of them, mainly against City. Aubameyang couldn’t rescue us from our own mental weakness.

As such, pundits clamoring for attention have already hypothesized that Aubameyang regrets joining his new club. To which I cry hogwash, malarkey, fustian and all the other synonyms that I don’t want to list.

Regret? That’s probably one of the dumbest things I’ve seen since… well, I hear dumb things every day, so nevermind.

Aubameyang came to the Gunners to up his game. He came to challenge himself and become a better player. That’s not an easy thing to do. It’s not supposed to be. If it was easy, everyone would do it, as they say.

If Aubameyang is going to regret his decision just because it isn’t as easy as he expected it to be, then we have invested in the wrong guy and he is a weak-minded fool that is in no way worth the money that we paid, even at the discounted rate.

Which is why he isn’t regretting it yet. Because he isn’t a weak-minded fool. Aubameyang is a professional, by the estimation of everyone that has played alongside him and by the standards of most of his coaches too, before he ditched Dortmund.

Aubameyang understood the challenges of the Premier League. And if he didn’t, and this was all a shock to him, then he should be excited by the prospect of learning how to defeat superior opposition.

Regret shouldn’t even be in the same sentence as Aubameyang. If you’re a professional, you welcome the challenge and you thrive in it. Aubameyang is a professional. So stop this stupid talk about regret.
