Arsenal had a cakewalk to sign Malcolm in January, but they skipped out and now they are primed to miss out altogether as competition heats up.

Arsenal has been tracking Bourdeaux and Brazil international Malcolm for some time now. They had a £37.5 million bid rejected in January for him. With Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund now interested in him, the Gunners are  suddenly set to miss out on a real talent.

Malcolm even came out and said he expects to leave Bordeaux, come the summer. The 21-year-old is a quality winger capable of playing on both wings and, best part, he can score too. He has found the net for Bordeaux eight times this year. Arsenal would be left wanting if he were to go to a different club.

German giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, are seriously courting him. The latter putting a serious offer for the Brazilian. Bayern may be looking to replace Arjen Robben and/or Franck Ribery, with both wingers aging.

Dortmund are just looking to add talent in depth to their squad. With the likes Christian Pulisic and Andre Schurrle, it would difficult seeing him feature in the first team straight off.

The other top clubs of England are also in for the former Corinthians’ winger. With clubs like Manchester City and United, Chelsea, Spurs, and Liverpool all in for him. He is hot property in the transfer market.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Tottenham were reportedly really interested in signing him but then they signed Lucas Moura.

Malcolm would be an addition to any team listed above. He is an exciting winger with an eye for a pass. He has crazy good movement on and off the ball, which helps him move about the pitch with ease.

Bonuses for Arsenal

For Arsenal, Malcolm would take on Alex Iwobi’s role and the Nigerian would be left having to recollect himself to fight for his spot. Malcolm could be a potential starter. Although, with the creative likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Mesut Ozil on the pitch, it would be hard for him to break in.

He would have to wait to prove himself at the Emirates with Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson held in high praise as well. Now with that being said, Malcolm seems to have just a little more to offer than the two mentioned above. At the very least, he seems further along.

Arsenal may not need another attacking addition, but competition is always a good thing. They should move for him even if we have to send Iwobi out on loan, as Iwobi has been nowhere near a first-team player. Improvements are needed all around, but Malcolm would certainly be a solid start.
