Arsenal are in the midst of revolutionising their squad. So, as a result of that, here are five players to sell in this summer transfer window. I should warn you, this is being harsh.

Arsene Wenger, last summer, described the Arsenal squad as ‘heavy’. Essentially, his point was that rather than add players, he wanted to improve players, selling those that he already had and bringing in better alternatives. As this season has proved, we are still waiting for those improvements to pay dividends.

So, here are five players who I believe should be sold this summer. I should state that many come with the caveats of receiving a fair fee for them and valuable and improving replacements coming in.

Arsenal, Rob Holding

5. Rob Holding or Calum Chambers

Both Rob Holding and Calum Chambers are coming to the points in their respective careers where regular football is a necessity. There is a crunch time at which they must prove themselves as capable and consistent starters. That time has now come.

There is, though, in my opinion, only room for one. With Shkodran Mustafi the clear starter and Laurent Koscielny still in the squad and available for selection, even if he slips into the background a little as Per Mertesacker has this season, as well as the potential for a new, significant, experienced, and established signing in the summer, a signing that I would deem an absolute necessity, it is difficult to see how both Chambers and Holding can be given the game time they require.

As such, I feel that it is time for Arsenal to commit to one or the other. Both have the natural talent to succeed as future starters for this club, but there are major warts and shortcomings that need to be ironed out. It’s time to choose. For the other, the end of the road may well have arrived.
