Arsenal: Jack Wilshere pulling an Alexis Sanchez but doing it better
By Rory Picton
Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere is out of a contract to come to the end of the year, he has been holding out for more money, kind of like Alexis Sanchez once did.
Every fan now knows that Jack Wilshere and Arsenal might end up parting ways come the end of the season. His contract is up in June. He has put in some dazzling displays as of late, something Alexis Sanchez couldn’t do at Arsenal.
Wilshere is holding out for more money per week, something very similar to Sanchez. The question now is if the Gunners should play hardball with him.
Arsenal is in the midst of a contract rebellion, most of the first team player’s contracts run out either this year or next. It is safe to say the club may have to go through a complete overhaul in the next few years.

With contracts always being disputed at top clubs, it’s no surprise that players, even at Arsenal, are disputing their contracts. Especially if they’re eyeing pay-cuts from the club. Jack Wilshere’s case is a puzzling one for me, why would a club let one of it’s most loved and adored players leave the club on the free?
Jack Wilshere is a versatile payer and a quality one at that. He has been with the senior club since 2008, the longest-serving member in the side. He’s someone who knows the ins and outs of the club, a captain of sorts.

Yes, he is usually found in the doctor’s office with some sort of injury, but when fit, he is an inspiring force on the pitch. He is a fan favorite, someone who puts in a shift no matter what position he’s playing.
Wilshere should never be allowed to leave the club, he is the franchise player someone who could become captain one day. He has been playing out of his skin, something Alexis wasn’t able to do for the Gunners and hasn’t been able to do since.
Alexis has been underwhelming this season, struggling with the Gunners then making that big money move to Manchester United where he has also struggled.
Here, Alexis was an outcast. He was a contract rebel. He wanted more money and more trophies. Wilshere is pulling a Sanchez regarding his contract, not willing to negotiate unless wage demands are met.
This club must have either forgotten or just don’t want to dish out the money when it comes to renewing contracts. Letting Mesut Ozil‘s and Alexis Sanchez’s contracts almost run out was a very poor move by the board.

Letting the players dictate how the club should negotiate contracts is never too good. Wilshere should be kept at all costs. Break the bank for him, give him what he wants. He is Arsenal.
