Arsenal merely have to take care of business in Russia against CSKA Moscow, but it’s never that easy. Here is all you need to know and how to watch.

Arsenal made it look pretty easy in the first leg against CSKA Moscow at the Emirates. An absolute masterclass by Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey and Alexandre Lacazette put the Gunner sin fine fettle, despite the scare of an equalizing goal from a superb free kick.

Moscow’s wingbacks were absolutely ripped to shreds by an Arsenal attack that doesn’t even boast much speed. What they lacked in speed though, they made up for in the form of knifing passes and splitting the defense wide open.

That won’t be necessary in the second leg in Russia. With a 4-1 cushion going into the match, the Gunners need only not screw up. But in order to do that, they really need to maintain an attacking presence and not enact the same sort of plan they used going up against Ostersunds in the second leg.

That said, the Gunners have one hell of a chore, given the number of absences they are struggling with. For starters, Henrikh Mkhitaryan is out, perhaps for the rest of the season. He suffered ligament damage in the first leg at the Emirates and will be lucky to make it back for the Europa League final.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Surprisingly, Granit Xhaka has emerged on the M.I.A. list, as an illness has kept him in England while the rest of the team travels to Russia. This will leave the Gunners midfield woefully short-staffed, but hopefully Mohamed Elneny will be able to ensure that this doesn’t get any crazier than it needs to be.

On the CSKA Moscow side of things, Fernandes and Vasin are both still injured as well.

This is a tie that seems to be all wrapped up, but with the second leg against Ostersunds still fresh in our minds, the threat of two quick goals is ever-looming and it’s important that the Gunners retain the same sharpness we saw in the first leg.
