Aaron Ramsey has given Arsenal a new lifeline into the semi-finals of the Europa League. This season could be his best yet in his North London career.

Arsenal has a player on their hands who can turn a game on its head with ease. His name is Aaron Ramsey. The Welshman has been with the club since 2008, he has had ups and downs his whole career. This season he has shown glimpses of a superstar, exciting fans and pundits alike. Ramsey saved the Gunners in Russia when the team was down two-nil he stepped it up and produced a dazzling display.

This season, the Welshman has shown more than enough quality to deserve that new contract. With his contract runs out at the end of next year, the sharks are undoubtedly already circling with appearances of this quality.

Ramsey’s game is simple yet very tedious. He makes late runs into the box to clean up and rebounds or provide an outlet for a pass. His goals and his passes really help the forwards, creating more chances to score always help.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Playing alongside either Granit Xhaka or Mohamed Elneny has helped Ramsey to grow into an attacking midfielder from deep. His defensive duties have been cut in half and he has that freedom to attack teams from deep and cause havoc, just like he had in his initial breakthrough in the 2013/14 season.

His runs from deep are hard to track and, quite often, unpredictable. Ramsey doesn’t always shoot, sometimes he makes those key passes into areas that only the likes of Mesut Ozil can see.

Arsenal need to step up on their contract talks with Ramsey. Arsene Wenger has expressed faith that Ramsey will stay, but until the thing is signed, nothing is guaranteed. Plenty of teams have come calling in the past already – that includes Barcelona – and with his current form he could move on to another club either abroad or stay on English shores.

Wherever he goes, Ramsey will be a driving force from deep in the midfield. Ideally, that will be with the Gunners, where he has given us so much, yet stands to give so much more in time.

Arsenal needs to sort themselves out if they want to compete for trophies next season and beyond. Ramsey’s future at the club is crucial, he needs to be a regular on the pitch and needs to game time to continue this great run of form. Only time will tell if they can come to an agreement and work together to continue his magic.
