Arsenal: Youth carousel would suggest that Eddie Nketiah is next
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal have been allowing their youngsters to get their Premier League starting debuts, and with that being the case, isn’t Eddie Nketiah next?
Arsenal have three youngsters that have been line-leaders for the rest of the youth system, patiently awaiting their opportunity to make an impact in the Premier League. Finally, that line is moving, as players are getting their chance to feature with the senior team.
First it was Reiss Nelson against Southampton. He played a fairly average game, not exactly bringing a lot of excitement, but he didn’t bring any downfall either. It was just average. And that’s a good performance to build off of.
Joe Willock was next against Newcastle. Despite the disappointment of the loss, Willock played well enough and should absolutely feature in future Premier League matches, seeing as how this is what our season has become.

But next up should be Eddie Nketiah. And the way the schedule is shaping up, it would make total sense if it was.

West Ham travel to the Emirates this coming weekend, and with Atletico Madrid coming the following Thursday, you should expect to see even more rotation. For instance, Alexandre Lacazette could realistically be one of the guys that gets the day off.
Obviously that would at first indicate that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would be next in line, but if Arsene Wenger is serious about getting Aubameyang and Lacazette on the pitch together by way of the Gabonese hitman playing out wide, then wouldn’t it be just as fruitful to let Eddie Nketiah start up front with Aubameyang on his left?
Nketiah has only featured in 11 minutes thus far into the Premier League season, but he was the hero that saved the Gunners in the League Cup against Norwich City, with two goals late in the game.
Nketiah is, and I’m sure people will disagree with me, the best prospect of the three, simply because he is such a threat to goal and he always has been. We have had Nelson’s and Willock’s before, but it’s been awhile since we had a young player with the goal scoring ability of Nketiah. Snapping him up when Chelsea cut him may be the greatest gift the Blues could ever give us.
