Full Backs

In the same vein, I believe that if Wenger can provide rest for his starting players without suffering too much of a drop-off, then he will. Full back provides two contrasting instances of that strategy in action.

At left back, Sead Kolasinac provides a perfectly adequately option in the place of Nacho Monreal, allowing the latter to not feature without the team suffering too much; at right back, there are not too many options other than out-of-position alternatives, meaning that Hector Bellerin will again start.

Thankfully, Bellerin is the type of player and athlete who can handle the physical rigours of routine games in quick succession so this is not too concerning. However, it does pose the problem of what Wenger would do if Bellerin were to pick up an injury. Let’s hope that it never comes to that.
