When it was announced in January that Arsenal had signed a 20-year-old center-back from PAS Giannina, it was met with a collective groan. Most pundits and fans were of the opinion that their center-back issues required immediate attention and that they didn’t have the time to develop a youngster. Almost all those voices of dissent were silenced when Konstantinos Mavropanos put in an excellent shift against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Arsenal lost the game, but the acclaim Mavropanos received was unanimous. While a single game is not a good sample set to draw a conclusion from, most Arsenal fans would hope that this Sven “Diamond Eyes” Mislintat signing would be one for the ages.

What does the new manager do? Mavropanos would be an excellent squad option to have. Under a new manager, he could even become an integral part of the starting line-up next season.
