Arsenal’s season is winding down to a close, but that is no excuse to stop the Konstantinos Mavropanos train. Keep the wheels turning on this one!

There are a lot of things that will come screeching to a halt when this Arsenal season ends. The problem is that we can’t fully prepare for what exactly those things are until the new manager is appointed.

But just know that players will be leaving, and not just over-the-hill players that serve no great facility to the club anymore. We could see a big time exit of some favorites, as contract situations are a major question that will have to be addressed by the incoming manager.

On defense, there are even more questions. Will the new manager trust Calum Chambers? Could Shkodran Mustafi be sold? What value is still put on Laurent Koscielny’s future involvement? All things that will have to be answered.

As such, a lot of the progress this club is now making has to be taken with a grain of salt, because seeing it prolonged into next season will depend entirely on the next boss and how he assesses the state of the club.

That is, except for Konstantinos Mavropanos.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

The Greek stands as one of the few things about this team that can keep chugging along through the end of this season, into the summer and on through to next season. The striking core is another thing, but those two may well be it.

Mavropanos has made a massive case for himself in just two matches and while he will start in at least one more (most likely), there isn’t much he can do to harm his chances of being a serious piece of the puzzle for whoever comes next.

He is the first under-the-radar signing for Sven Mislintat and clearly has a huge backing from club and fans alike. That is the kind of thing that a new manager can bank on to endear himself to the fans – stick with the guys the fans love. Because honestly, there aren’t that many.

With two games yet to go, I would hope that Mavropanos starts them both. Doing so on short rest will give an indication of his fitness levels as well as his ability to perform when not fully rested – all valuable things to know.
