Arsenal: One more reason to love Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal’s new star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has done yet another thing to make him an immediate fan favorite. And yes, it involves goals.
Since joining Arsenal, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been on fire. In just 991 minutes of play, he has contributed to 13 goals (nine goals, four assists). There is a such thing as hitting the ground running, but no player in the Gunners’ entire history has ever hit the ground running as fast as him. And yes, that is a double entente.
Aubameyang may be disappointed at the lack of success that his new club has found overall, but in terms of personal success and what this means for his future, he couldn’t be happier. He has not only found the best in himself – and so easily – he has also found the best in team mate and attacking partner Alexandre Lacazette.
Together, they have given the Gunners one less thing to think about going into the hectic summer months, where so many questions have to be answered.

The stats alone are enough to love Aubameyang for, but when you start drawing comparisons, that’s when it really gets special.
As many of you know, I have been particularly interested in Aubameyang’s goal tallies because, more than anything, I wanted him to finish the Premier League season (or half season) with more goals than Alexis Sanchez has in his entire season.

Alexis slithered off to Manchester United after he got tired of drilling himself into the ground at the Emirates, and now he is doing the same things at Old Trafford, to every Gooner’s utter joy. And I’m not just saying that.
Aubameyang also has nine goals in 991 minutes with Arsenal. Meaning that they are in a dead heat heading into the last week of the season. Obviously, no matter what happens, it’s clear who the better player is, and that is something worth celebrating. It’s also worth celebrating knowing that our attack has gotten exponentially better since Alexis left, while his new attack is exponentially worse, perhaps (but not only) because he joined it.
It’s not often that the Gunners win a “transfer war.” Usually when they lose a big name player, there is some downfall. Not here. This club upgraded massively and I just could not be happier about it.
