Arsenal: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang makes everything easier
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal were able to give Arsene Wenger a winning send-off thanks in part to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who, at this moment, is a literal angel.
Arsenal have now crossed the line that many never though would come. They will be proceeding without the constant, benevolent presence of Arsene Wenger. And they will be doing it without a successor lined up, which does have a potential disaster written all over it.
But that aside, it’s time to look forward, and to start counting the blessings that we do have. Given that we really don’t know what players are staying or going, that becomes immensely tougher, because you can’t even bank on any certainties.
There is, however, one massively impacting certainty to count on going forward, and to think of where this club would be without him is rather scary.

I am speaking of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The man that reached ten goals faster than any Arsenal player in history. The man that outscored Alexis Sanchez in just half a season, the man that chose this club despite the murky waters they were in.

What makes Aubameyang so different is that he is a known commodity. No matter the manager, they know what they will get out of him, how reliable that is, and that they can turn to it whenever they need a quick out.
For a transitional period, where not a lot is guaranteed and nearly everything is questioned, the fact that one of the few remaining resources is a world class speed merchant who can turn a game around with a single play is pretty damn special.
Think back to January. I doubted the necessity of signing Aubameyang, but when you think about the difference he now makes, it’s so clear to see why it was so important to sign him.
Alexandre Lacazette is a talented dude, no doubt. But he has his limitations, as we have also seen. Without service, without the prep work, he can go missing. And we don’t know what kind of service we will have going into next year, plus that’s a lot of moving pieces.
With Aubameyang, it’s literally just a long ball or a cross and he can make something happen in an instant. That is the kind of reliability that anyone can depend on and it will make all the difference for whoever comes next.
