Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is excited about his Arsenal future. Yeah, but he can’t even imagine how the fans are feeling about it all.

It’s not right that a player of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang‘s status isn’t going to be playing in the Champions League next year. It really isn’t. But that is what he has to look forward to next year with Arsenal, the team he elected to join in January.

In fact, Aubameyang isn’t just unfazed by the lack of Champions League, he’s pretty excited about it. When asked if he was excited he said (as quoted by Sky Sports), “Yes, of course,” before going on to add:

"In the last few weeks, we have played well. We have a lot of young players and for sure it’s good for the (new) manager. It looks good for the future and I’m sure next season is going to be a good one for us."

Of course he is obligated to say that. What else is he going to say? But that doesn’t mean we can’t be right there with him, pumped up about the season, despite how little the club will be involved in. It’s Premier League or bust, more or less.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

But for as excited as Aubameyang is, and for as excited as we, as fans, are because he is, none of this compares to how excited Arsenal fans are to have a future of openness ahead. It’s intimidating, sure it is, but there is so, so much to look forward to. Stuff that we have been waiting for for years.

The fact that Aubameyang is here multiplies that excitement because, much like Mesut Ozil – probably more so – Aubameyang is the kind of guy who can attract top tier talent all on his own. And seeing as how we don’t have Arsene Wenger to work that magic anymore, having Aubameyang is vital to the excitement this club is brimming with going into next season.

It may seem like a gloomy time to be an Arsenal fan. No Wenger, no Champions League, nothing. But honestly, I’m not sure I’ve ever been more excited for what’s to come. We know what this team looks like on paper and shaking them up a bit should get them closer to achieving what they are potentially capable of.

And let me again state that this is much, much more the case because of Aubameyang. It’s wonderful to have that kind of talent to build around.
