Arsenal: Yaya Toure not even close to a good deal
By Rory Picton
Gary Neville has come out and said that Arsenal needs strength and leadership in their midfield, and has named Yaya Toure to fix this. He isn’t what we need.
According to SkySports pundit Gary Neville, Arsenal should sign Yaya Toure. Neville said Toure would add strength and leadership to this fragile midfield, which are two things Arsenal sorely lack at the moment. But he is not the one to fix these issues
Yaya Toure is an amazing player, let me say that before I get too far. His loyalty is unrivaled at Manchester City. Toure has been in the Premier League since his move from Barcelona in 2010. He has been a constant figure in an ever-changing Manchester City side.
Toure has been their captain and leader for eight long years. But could he be on his way to the Emirates? SkySports pundit and former Manchester United player Gary Neville thinks he’d fit in. I disagree with his evaluation and here’s why.

I don’t disagree with him on that point but Yaya Toure is not the man to do that. I just think that the Gunners could find someone younger, but someone who still has those leadership qualities about them.
This club needs someone to build the team around a “franchise” player in essence. This club needs a player like Liverpool’s Emre Can or Real Madrid’s Casemiro. Young, good on the ball but yet very combative. Maybe even Schalke’s Max Meyer. He could be the all-around kind of player that’s needed.
This side has lacked leadership and strength in their midfield all season. Granit Xhaka was brought in to be that strength and toughness in midfield, he has since failed to deliver. Mohamed Elneny was another player brought in to add steel and grit to the midfield, he has done his bits but not nearly enough.
Not since the days of Patrick Vieira and Gilberto Silva have Arsenal had a midfield that struck fear into opponents. Vieira was a tall, strong man to have in any midfield, he could carry the ball forward and play a pass just as well too.

Well, whoever the new manager decides to sign, my only hope is that the player succeeds and wins this club many trophies. It’s been too long since they have been a fearsome unit.
