With Arsene Wenger being in charge for 22 years, the thought of new ideas, tactics and innovations through a change is sure to excite many Arsenal fans.

Arsene Wenger has left Arsenal football club along with many of his backroom staff. Now that the tears have been shed and the respects have been paid, it’s time to look forward to the new season and the changes that lay ahead. Regardless of whether the new manager happens to be Mikel Arteta or Massimiliano Allegri, there is bound to be fresh innovations.

Wenger worked many wonders during his 22 year reign and one of the most memorable highlights of his time was was the wonderful start to his Arsenal career which many are hoping that the new manager would be able to replicate. A league and FA cup double in his first full year set the standards very high for the Frenchman, but unfortunately the standard was not to be met during his final years with the club.

Instead of a Sir Alex-like sendoff, Wenger would leave the club in sixth position, no Champions League football and no trophies, excluding the Community Shield, due to the players under performing for majority of the season. The players’ poor performances could have been the result of many factors such as; outdated tactics, the level of comfort within the squad and club and just simply a stalemate like surrounding which a new manager is bound to change.

New players may be arriving, and depending on the calibre of the new manager, many of the faces may be world class and considering Arsenal are not short of funds, the new boss would surely like to upgrade on the squad with some big names.

New tactics can be introduced to the already attacking style of play Arsene Wenger has instilled within the club. A deadly partnership between Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang or Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan can be developed and nurtured by the new man in charge. Ultimately, the tactics may include sharper attacks, quicker play but more importantly improving Arsenal’s defensive tactics, an issue which has hit peak now.

Players who were comfortable with Wenger and would use his kindness and father-like figure to escape with poor performances week in week out, may now be put in line. This means players like Alex Iwobi, Danny Welbeck, Petr Cech and many others will not get away with consistently putting in poor performances. Whether they are developed within the club or shipped out, the new manager will most certainly do something about the situation.

Right now all the talk is about the World Cup and the events leading to it, but personally I’d like for the new manager to just be appointed already and skip to the beginning of the season as I’m excited by the prospects that lie ahead.
