Arsenal: Yes, what Aaron Ramsey said about Unai Emery matters
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal need to make some progress with Aaron Ramsey, but by the man’s own admission, he may be making the first steps himself.
It’s already clear, before the transfer window even opens, that the draw for players to come to Arsenal football club is not as strong as it once was. As I have mentioned in previous articles, the main thing we can hope to do now is get players to buy into this “project.”
That requires being crafty and clever in the transfer market, and it requires finding guys that truly believe in what Unai Emery is bringing to the club.
That doesn’t just mean transfer targets. That means guys in the club too. So many players were “Wenger men,” or players that were here primarily because of Wenger. Now that Emery is here, it’s key to reinvest their faith in Wenger, except in Emery.

Aaron Ramsey has gone ahead and saw to that already. The Welshman didn’t have to say much to get all of the Arsenal news world repeating him, so let me do the same.
"I can’t wait to get back there now.More from Pain in the Arsenal3 standout players from 1-0 victory over Everton3 positives & negatives from Goodison Park victoryArsenal vs PSV preview: Prediction, team news & lineups3 talking points from Arsenal’s victory at Goodison ParkMikel Arteta provides Gabriel Martinelli injury update after Everton win"
That’s what he said, as quoted by Sky Sports, when asked about if he was excited to be working under Unai Emery now.
Going back to what I said earlier, about selling this project to players within and outside of the club, it’s already a big deal. But for it to be Ramsey, it means so much more. And it’s only one sentence.
Naturally, people are taking this as an indication that Ramsey wants to sign a new deal. And while I usually try not to read too much into what players say, I think this is a time to make an exception. Because he literally said he can’t wait to play under this new manager. So obviously he wants to stay. That goes without saying.
Fans are more than a little concerned about Ramsey’s ongoing contract situation and whether or not he will be sold, but after hearing that, it’s hard to foresee a situation where he’s sold. Which would therefore mean that a new deal is on the way.
Not to mention the fact that Emery said he wants to build around the Welshman. And just think, Ramsey said they haven’t even had been in contact, yet they are already all about each other.

It’s exciting. One sentence is all it takes sometimes. And yes, you can read into that.
