19. Rob Holding

Very much like Iwobi, Rob Holding was another of much was hoped of his development. The centre-half had eased his way in front of Calum Chambers in one preseason last summer. He then had a terrific first season in north London, culminating in a staggering FA Cup final performance against Chelsea.

But this year, upon Chambers’ return, Holding saw his standing in the squad slip behind his teammate and struggled for game-time as the fourth-choice centre-half. In the Premier League, he played only 820 minutes, just 23 more than Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who didn’t arrive until halfway through the year.

He did feature in 596 Europa league minutes across eight games, but that was fewer than Chambers and Shkodran Mustafi. By the end of the year, he found even more opportunities stolen from him by new boy Konstantinos Mavropanos. This was a season of lack for Holding. Perhaps a loan is on the horizon.
