Gareth’s Bale agent has said that he would “love” for his client to play for Arsenal, but there is a caveat that makes this conversation not worth having.

So long as Arsenal are a club, they will be tied to unbelievable deals that people try to hard not to find a reason to believe in. Going back to when Arsene Wenger was manager, the likelihood of a massive deal was never likely.

Even still, while they are breaking transfer records, they have never gone far beyond £50m for any given deal. Which is about half of what other teams are willing to spend on “their” guy.

That was never going to change this summer. Especially seeing as how the rumored budget was right at that £50m mark. And that was in total, with all the needs the club has, not including (and probably for good reason) another superstar.

Enter Gareth Bale. The former Tottenham fullback (lol), now a Real Madrid superstar attacker, Bale is on every single team’s wish-list.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Needless to say, he wasn’t exactly getting the warm and fuzzies from Zidane this past year, as he struggled to find consistent playing time. When he finally got his big chance in the Champions League final, he reminded everyone what he could do.

And then Zidane was gone. Leaving Bale to fester in his frustration and seek to ply his trade elsewhere.

That’s when Arsenal entered into the conversation. Not because it was ever going to happen, but because Bale’s agent said that, as an Arsenal fan himself, he would love for his client to play there.

Sounds great, right? The headlines out there are pretty misleading because they focus on that alone. It’s what his agent said next that is all you need to know – that it has as good a chance to happen as the agent’s chance of going to the moon.

AKA – it isn’t happening, end of conversation, this is stupid, why are we even here reading this?

Good question. Arsenal have plenty of real prospects on the horizon. Guys like Gelson Martins, who could well be the next big thing, but are still in the stages of their careers where they need that next big move.

Unless you believe in his agent’s ability to get to the moon (and back), then we can stop talking about this. And I do hope that this conversation will end soon, because come on, it’s not a conversation at all. It’s a joke.
