Arsenal: What else does Aaron Ramsey have to think about?
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal still haven’t signed Aaron Ramsey. So yeah, it’s about time we start asking questions, like what the hell is taking so long?
Arsenal have had a very clear directive this season and those who are on board just get it and have jumped in. So many contracts have been signed by key players within the squad, expressing a desire to work together for the long haul.
All the players that have been signed were signed with relatively little drama as well, showing that they, too, bought into this vision.
The only remaining piece – literally the only one – is Aaron Ramsey. The Welshman had been taking his sweet time with this reported five-year deal sitting on his table (I assume that’s where he keeps it), unsigned.

Here’s the thing I don’t get – what else does he have to think about regarding the deal? Does he not know by now if it is what’s best for him? And if that is the case, shouldn’t that be a warning sign?
My concern stems from multiple plots. For starters – both he and Unai Emery admitted that they were excited to work together. That alone got everyone’s hopes up that this was just a matter of time – ideally a short time.

Ramsey didn’t have the World Cup to get in the way, and we haven’t heard anything about him not deciding until August, or something goofy like that. For all intents and purposes, this deal should be done. It should be long done.
But it’s not.
Now we have to fend off rumors. Like that Chelsea are the favorites to land our beloved, heroic Welshman who has helped us through so much, and vice versa. The club has done so much for him as well.
As of now, though, that’s neither here nor there. We’re talking about the future – the prime of Aaron Ramsey’s career. If he doesn’t want to spend them at Arsenal, then he never will. It’s heartbreaking, really, to think that through all of this, he may still want to be somewhere else. I wouldn’t understand it.
Yet here I am, trying to convince myself that the extended delay is nothing to worry about. That he’s just, I don’t know, vacationing with the family.

There shouldn’t be that much to think about anymore. He’s had all summer and, according to the silence, there have been no updates or changes to the deal. So what are we waiting for?
