Arsenal have the perfect command center running the club, so the last thing we need to talk about is losing Ivan Gazidis. Yet here we are…

Arsenal’s fortunes have turned around tremendously, and if you want to trace it back to its origins, it all began when one man got more responsibility. That one man is Ivan Gazidis.

You may remember back when he said that Arsene Wenger needs to be a “catalyst for change” if he stays. Many of us laughed at him, called it empty talk. We’d heard things like this before. We’d heard all about the changes that would come that never did.

Slowly but surely, though, changes did start happening. With Ivan Gazidis taking on more responsibility, the club started to land not only players, but guys that worked off the pitch, behind the scenes.

Sven Mislintat, then Raul Sanllehi. Huss Fahmy too. All of these guys were brought in under the watch of Gazidis and all of those guys are making even more differences now that they are settled in at the club.

It all starts with Gazidis, though. All of it. He set this change into motion despite being such a heavily criticized piece of the puzzle for so long.

And naturally, a good thing can’t remain untarnished. Sooner or later, there is going to be chatter that puts seeds of doubts in our minds.

That chatter is starting, as Gazidis is being linked to the CEO job at AC Milan.

Now, there is nothing here beyond an expression of interest from the club, so there’s no reason to think that this is a ticking time bomb or anything. Worst case scenario, as of right now, is that Milan are actually interested in him. But who wouldn’t be?

No, right now, we don’t need to worry. It wouldn’t make sense for Gazidis to bail on the club right as he was starting to settle into his big boy boots, when he has actual responsibility and actual things to do beyond sit with Arsene Wenger and be told what to do.

I would like to believe that this is where the rumor dies. Maybe Gazidis is asked about it and dismisses it, but beyond that, there shouldn’t be anymore.

It feels nice, being able to trust the men in charge. I wouldn’t want anything to change right now, that’s for sure. Not a damn thing.
