Arsenal: Aaron Ramsey stalemate should never come down to payment
By Josh Sippie
There are a lot of theories trying to make sense of Aaron Ramsey’s stalemate with Arsenal, but whatever the case, money should have nothing to do with it.
Arsenal and Aaron Ramsey are still in the standoff that they started the summer on. It is known by now that if he doesn’t extend, he will be sold. The club is determined to avoid the suddenly-familiar risk of letting players go for free
What exactly the stand-off is being caused by, we can’t exactly know for sure. Reports at the start of the summer indicated that a five-year deal had been offered, but it’s been two months since then, and nothing.
And now, even Ramsey and Unai Emery are starting to throw their hesitations out in the open. Neither seems sure of what the future holds, though the latter is quick to admit that he wants to keep the former around.
Of all the theories out there regarding to what may be causing the stalemate, the one I can’t get over is that it may be over money.
As it stands, Ramsey is making £110,000, which is a criminally low number for what he provides for the club. Meanwhile, Mesut Ozil is making £300,000, despite the Welshman being a far more dynamic player last year than the German maestro.

Speculation has run wild over what Ramsey may be asking for/what he deserves, but consensus has established that Ramsey should at least see his wages doubled, while he may be asking for something like £250,000.
To which I say – just pay the damn guy.
Ramsey was involved in more goals than any player other than Lacazette. He was a constant threat, as he has proven to be in the past, and now that he has found his stride, it’s not unrealistic to think that 15 goals won’t be the norm.
Plus, given the work rate and the determination for greatness, it’s not even fathomable that the money would “go to his head” or in any way hinder how effective he is.
So again, let me say – just pay the man. You can’t tell me he shouldn’t be making £250,000. Hell, I think you could make a case for equal wages with Ozil, but that’s not a road I want to go down right now.
He has earned the money, now give it to him.
