Arsenal vs Chelsea: 5 things learned in the trapdoor of hope
By Josh Sippie
1. We’re losing Alexandre Lacazette
Not losing in the sense of like, transferring somewhere else, though that may not be far behind if something doesn’t change, but losing losing in the sense of his momentum. His optimism.
Last year was a rough year for Lacazette. Yes, he ended up coming out just fine, but throughout the year, he had a goalless streak, a serious injury and was replaced. He needed a fresh start and this season was the chance to give it to him. Only we haven’t.
Whatever optimism that Lacazette was carrying with him into the new season is quickly dissipating and you can see it in his body language. When he came on against City, he looked positive and he made a quick impact.
When he came on against Chelsea, there was less of that. And honestly, I don’t blame him. How is he going to be shoved to the bench for two straight matches after everything he has proven and been through?
I know I asked for patience for Emery, but at the very least, Lacazette has to start. And that is the biggest lesson here.
