Arsenal’s season is giving us plenty to look forward to, but let us not forget about Konstantinos Mavropanos, who is yet another thing.

Two matches into the Arsenal season and we have yet to nick a point, but we have nicked a good deal of promising notes. There is a lot to look forward to in this team and it’s not just the potent attack. There are young players making a big difference with the club, namely Matteo Guendouzi, but there are plenty others as well.

And that’s not even taking into account those that haven’t made it onto the pitch yet. Ainsley Maitland-Niles is another. Lucas Torreira. The list goes on.

Every so often, when writing an article, I stumble onto something that I have regretfully forgotten about among all the hullabaloo. That thing that I had forgotten about is Konstantinos Mavropanos.

The young Greek defender was an upstart stalwart when he broke into the first team last season, but his impact didn’t last long. He picked up a red card and carried the suspension over into this season.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

I don’t think many of us expected him to start the season in the starting XI. Maybe optimistically, some might have thought that Calum Chambers and Mavropanos could have started together (I might have been in that camp), but realistically, it wouldn’t have ever been the case.

That said, with the infusion that Guendouzi has brought, I think that any barriers of age have been shattered. The young Frenchman has been a miracle and it’s been a nice little reminder that you don’t have to be a massive signing with a massive price-tag and a decade of Champions League experience under your belt to make a difference.

Mavropanos was a much similar signing as Guendouzi. Not a lot was expected of him, but when the time came that he was tested, he passed the test with flying colors. He was everything we wanted him to be and it showed that the potential of a young player can impact the here and now, as it did with both of these players.

We haven’t even gotten into Mavropanos yet, people!

Not to mention that Mavropanos was sitting with the Gooners at Stamford Bridge. That was kind of cool too. I’d like to think that he may be another infusion of what we need most these days – a bit of passion.
