Arsenal were supposed to wrap up Aaron Ramsey this summer, but that didn’t happen. Now, they have to court him at the winter dance, and it wouldn’t be their first time.

Arsenal had two major tasks to accomplish this summer. The first was to find a new manager to take over for Arsene Wenger. They did that early on, which gave them months to do task No. 2 – figure out what was going on with Aaron Ramsey.

The Welshman had his best year since Super Rambo first broke out all those years ago. In fact, you could argue that he was better than ever before, and you wouldn’t be wrong. He absolutely rocked the socks off of fans with heroic performances galore.

The man would have earned whatever new contract the club wanted to give him. Hands down, no questions asked. But if they didn’t see fit to extend him, for whatever reason, than at least selling him with a year left on his deal would help recoup the losses and allow them some time to find someone that can limit the damage his exit would do.

None of that happened. The window has closed, the season is going on, and Ramsey is already having a solid impact. And now, we hear that nothing will be decided until January.

Which is exactly what the club said we would be avoiding after Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil went into the exact same situation. Ozil got a massive pay raise, which is now a bit of a problem, if you consider it, and Alexis was part of a lucrative swap deal.

It was stressful. Big time stressful. And I actually believed we wouldn’t want to do it again. But we are.

Meaning that one of two things is going to happen – he’s going to get involved in a swap deal with a rival (which sucks) or he is going to be sold for far less than he is actually worse.

This is like going to the prom with a girl and hating it, absolutely hating it. And vowing you’ll never do it again. Then prom rolls around again and you ask the same girl because you just really want that stress in your life.

What’s worse is that it doesn’t look good. It really doesn’t, If the money isn’t there now, why would it be there in January? Unless Ozil is going to like, willingly take a pay cut. But that isn’t going to happen.
