Deep Midfielders

Poor game from Guendouzi. He really showed his inexperience, especially with his positioning when Arsenal had the ball. Was routinely dropping into a deep-right position that offered no options for the centre-backs to play forward to and left Xhaka isolated in central positions. I’m happy to chalk this one down to inexperience, but this team looked much better once Guendouzi was hooked at half-time.. CM. Arsenal. MATTEO GUENDOUZI. 3.0

Really poor first half like Guendouzi. Offered no angles to play into the midfield and forward into the final third, took far too many touches on the ball, slowing the play down to a painful tempo, and didn’t create any sort of attacking foundation from deep. When Torreira came on at half-time, Xhaka completely changed. Suddenly, he was spraying passes all over the pitch, helped create the move for the second goal with a lovely cut-back to Lacazette, and scored the first with a thumping freekick.. CM. Arsenal. GRANIT XHAKA. 7.0
