Deep Midfield

Here is where a decision needs to be made. Because either Lucas Torreira or Matteo Guendouzi is going to start, but whichever one doesn’t is likely the one that will get the greenlight for the Premier League match against Everton.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Which means that Guendouzi really should be starting here, allowing Torreira to be freed up for the Everton match, but there is also that chance that Torreira gets the full 90 just to get some more match fitness. Whatever the case, however Unai Emery wants to facilitate this, Torreira should 100% be starting against Everton.

Opposite (hopefully) Guendouzi will be the forgotten man, Mohamed Elneny. Now, I had thought that Elneny would have been a solid pupil for Emery, given his pressuring habits and work ethic, but he has yet to find any playing time. Which is mostly down to the other three midfielders rotating so effectively.

Still, Elneny is a competitor, and I’d expect to see him looking like a bat out of hell out there, intent on proving himself and his current value with the club. Many are counting him out, but I think it’s a bit too early for that.

On to the wingers, who aren’t really wingers.
