4. Ramsey Is Not Truly A No.10 or a Raumdeuter

Aaron Ramsey walked off the pitch against Everton with two assists to his name. In a vacuum, this would be considered a very good run out for the Welshman. However, his latest performance seemed to completely sum up his odd new life under Emery.

Playing in the No. 10 position, Ramsey is taxed with being the chief creator for this Arsenal side. While he technically may be providing the end product fans would want, there is something erratic and uncoordinated about Ramsey’s play this season.

It seems as though Emery is electing to use Rambo in the No.10 position to utilize his considerable energy and work rate to press opposition and create havoc in the final third. Similar to the way Thomas Mueller has made his name, roaming the pitch and finding space to exploit and score goals, Emery seems to be using Ramsey in a nearly undefinable role in which you are never quite sure where he will pop up.

In theory, this seems like a good role for Ramsey who has exhibited a scoring knack and the ability to time runs to perfection over the years. However, this version of Ramsey just seems to disrupt Arsenal’s forward play and he is yet to really make an impression on the campaign so far.
