Fullbacks

I have dreams of what will happen at fullback. Let me share that dream with you. I dream that Lichtsteiner and Kolasinac will be the new starters, and this is why I dream that: Because Kolasinac is better than Hector Bellerin and Lichtsteiner is better than Nacho Monreal. Plus both are very similar. They play opposite positions, so all we’d do is swap out both fullbacks for both their competitors.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

But that’s just my dream, and not what will actually happen. What will actually happen is the same thing. Hector Bellerin, the onside kingpin, will get the start on the right hand side, and Nacho Monreal will get the start on the left.

Monreal I’m fine with, for the most part. He has been perfectly okay. Kolasinac is still getting healthy and probably shouldn’t be risked this early anyway. But in the long run, and by long run I mean like, in a month or so, I have to hope that barring some sort of coming-to-life by Bellerin, that the switch will be made.

In the meantime, we can all stress about Bellerin’s inability to hold a line and Monreal’s sporadic and often fantastical bursts into the limelight, only to fall back into mediocrity again. Hey, there are worse things in life, right?
