Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey saga is endless and, quite frankly meaningless. If something could actually happen, that would be great.

Arsenal have been trying to built around Aaron Ramsey (and Jack Wilshere) for the better part of a decade. It hasn’t worked out just yet, but as far as the Ramsey escapade goes, it’s getting really close to being the case.

Ramsey has come into his own and asserted himself as one of the most potent midfielders out there, when he’s on top of his game. Now granted, it isn’t always a guarantee that he will be on top of his game, but his consistency is improving, and the threat alone makes him such a valuable commodity.

As such, there’s a reason why there are a lot of us hanging on the every ebb and flow of the ongoing Ramsey transfer saga.

In case you live under a rock at the bottom of the ocean, Ramsey’s contract runs up at the end of the year. The reports were that he was supposed to be properly dealt with (contract or sold) this past summer. Obviously that didn’t happen.

Both Ramsey and Unai Emery talked about how excited they were to work together, and that certainly counts for something. Or at least it should have, only nothing came from it.

Reports surfaced that the Gunners had extended Ramsey a five-year contract offer. That looked to be it. Sign the deal. Done.

But he didn’t. Nothing happened. And about 17 flip-flops later, we are now at a story saying that Arsenal have removed the “four-year contract offer” from the table. That would ordinarily suck if there was any reason to believe that it were actually the case.

However, between the ebbing and the flowing and the five- or four-year deal, one thing has become incredibly clear – no one actually knows what’s going on.

All we know is that Ramsey hasn’t signed a new deal, and that’s a real bummer. I do think that the majority of fans want him to stay. He’s a hero, a potential legend (if he isn’t already) and there are so many things to be excited about with him.

But as it stands, no one knows anything. As it stands, nothing has happened. A painful amount of nothing.

And as long as that is the case, all we can do is hang out. Hang out and hope for the best. I’m not a fan of it either.
