1. Good run continues

Arsenal have now won five league games in succession. Admittedly, they have not really played well in any of them, only coming good in spurts here and there, scoring a flurry of goals and then hanging on for the remainder of the match. But they are winning games.

Watford are not a team to look past. They have already overcome Spurs this season and were sitting in the top four prior to this defeat. And they played well here. Had it not been for some wayward finishing and excellent goalkeeping, Arsenal could very easily have lost this game.

While I have extolled the importance of recognising that this is a project and that it will take time for Unai Emery to implement the systems and strategies that he wants, it is also nice to see this team grinding out results while they are not playing so well.

A top-four finish is still within this team’s reach, especially with Manchester United’s struggles at this early stage in the season. So picking up these points does matter, although it would be nice to see a better performance some time soon.
