Arsenal hosted Watford on Saturday afternoon as they returned to Premier League action. Here are the player ratings from the 2-0 victory.

Watford arrived at the Emirates on Saturday afternoon with no intention of sitting deep and soaking up the pressure. They pressed, they harried, they hounded. And, ultimately, they fell short. But only just. Arsenal had to work hard for the win but they got it eventually. Two late goals, three precious points. It was a riveting affair.

Goalkeeper

GK. Arsenal. PETR CECH. 6.5. Unfortunate to get an injury. Made a few good saves and clearances from crosses and set-pieces, but all of which were nothing that wouldn’t have been expected of him. Unfortunate to get injured just before half-time, pulling his left hamstring when taking a goal kick. Hopefully, his absence is not too extended.
